Marine Construction Project Manager

Caldwell Marine International is looking for an individual who is ready to contribute their talents and expertise to an environment that rewards hard work, cooperation, and respect. The Project Manager will oversee the Champlain Hudson Power Express Project (3.5 years). Project Overview:

  • Deliver 1200MW of power from Canada to New York City
  • Install 95 miles of cable in Lake Champlain & 90+ miles in the Hudson & Harlem Rivers.
  • Locate/protect approximately 140 utilities that will be crossed.
  • Horizontal Directional Drill 10 conduits at five locations.
  • Managed out of Caldwell Marine’s NYC marine facility

Marine Construction Project Manager Role:

  • Planning marine/civil project objectives, plans, and setting performance requirements.
  • Coordinating optimum utilization of resources- labor, materials and equipment, and ensuring their procurement with cost-effective terms.
  • Implementation of various on-site operations through proper coordination of trades, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Communications for resolving conflicts among the various participants.

Marine Construction Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the marine/civil construction project from start to finish.
  • Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
  • Develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities.
  • Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses and minimizing risk on the project.
  • Ensure that marine/civil construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  • Co-ordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the owners, engineers, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and laborers.
  • Monitor the progress of the marine/civil construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings.
  • Maintain strict adherence to the safety standards, quality and budget.
  • Ensure project documents are complete.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • A degree in construction management /civil engineering is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in marine/civil construction projects.
  • Ability to travel in the Northeast region and work remotely from jobsite for periods of time
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, HCSS, Microsoft Project and Primavera
  • Thorough knowledge of safety standards is essential.
  • Good client management.
  • Capacity to motivate, lead, and boost morale of the teams.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Strong focus on quality.

MARINE SUBSEA SURVEYOR

Caldwell Marine International, LLC is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Marine & Subsea Surveyor.

This is an interesting position that would involve the setup, operation, and oversight of  company-performed marine survey operations.  These operations would be related primarily to Caldwell’s Differential Global Positioning Systems (DGPS) as applied to subsea power cable installation.  In addition, preferred candidates should have familiarity in the installation, operation and maintenance of related marine and subsea equipment.

Ideally, successful candidates would have experience in the following disciplines:

  • Experience in the setup and operation of marine navigation software suites such as WinFrog, HYPACK Dredge Pack, etc.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of marine electronic equipment such as DGPS systems, radio modems, echo sounders, subsea cameras and other related equipment.

Travel is required.  This position will be working on a barge for the Champlain Hudson Power Express Project (3.5 years). Project overview:
